Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Western Union Exercises Completed. DESCRIPTION: The Western Union Fleets seen here during their exercises in the Bay of Biscay. Monty, who is a spectator aboard the Implacable watches the manoeuvres very closely. Admiral McGrigor transfers from the aircraft carrier Implacable to the carrier Theseus to consider notes with their enemies. SHOTLIST: KS. Dusk shot MS "Anson". Dusk shot - Pan of fleet at Penzance. GV destroyer. Aerial "Anson". Aerial of "Implacable". On deck of "Implacable" Monty & McGrigor look through field glasses. Monty in engine room, inspects engines. Into camera - up stairs to deck, Monty hits head on deck. Sea Fury takes off, another catapulted. Sea Hornet takes off from carrier. McGrigor climbs into helicopter on "Implacable". Take off - vertical - helicopter overhead. GV "Theseus". Helicopter lands on "Theseus". McGrigor shakes hands with Admiral (Rear-Admiral Mansergh). Furies & Fireflies up on elevator to flight deck. Pilots walk onto flight deck. Worms eye-view of planes on deck ready for take-off. Planes catapulted from deck. Aerial & air-to-air shots of Furies skim water & fly in formation - very good. Aerial fleet in line ahead. Formation of fighters above clouds. Aerial of fleet. Planes land on deck, with signaller directing them in to land - several shots. Monty talks (silent) with pilots. Low aerial - line ahead & mine exploding (white smoke) near carrier. Bows of destroyer - D64 under way. GV ditto. CU bows of destroyer, cutting water. Officers using sextant. Sailor signalling with signalling lamp. Sending out semaphore with flags. MS carrier "Implacable". GV "Implacable" & battleship "Anson".
