- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Calcutta’s Thousands Hail Nehru. DESCRIPTION: Pandit Nehru pays a visit to Calcutta where the crowds simply mobbed him. He addressed over half a million people at the Maidan, some of them tried to start a riot which ended in a few casualties. SHOTLIST: KS. Nehru walks into camera. GV Calcutta Airport (Dum Dum). Nehru having garlands placed round neck, he takes it off & carries same. Inspects guard of honour. Leaves in car, mobs crowd round same. Trucking shot through streets. GV Government House. Huge crowds listens to Nehru’s address, at Maidan. Crowds listen in rain, umbrellas up. Mob try to start a riot, some carried off on stretchers.
