- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rebuilding the Freak Bridge. DESCRIPTION: The Tacoma Bridge in Washington State is to be rebuilt. It was originally built nine years ago, but high winds revealed a structural fault, when a gale blew up the bridge acted in a peculiar manner and became known as Galloping Gertie. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Tacoma Bridge - men starting to span river with wire ropes for the new Tacoma Bridge. Men constructing catlike walk across river. LIBRARY MATERIAL - Destruction of the old Tacoma Bridge. Bridge swaying in high winds - jumping up and down, cracking - buckling and finally plunging into river. Other shots of new bridge under construction.
