Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Monaveen’s Last Race. DESCRIPTION: Her Majesty went to Hurst Park to watch the horse owned by herself and Princess Elizabeth run in the Queen Elizabeth Chase. This proved to be Monaveen’s last race, for at the water jump he fell and broke a leg and had to be destroyed. Tony Grantham, the jockey, had to be taken to hospital. SHOTLIST: KS. GV crowded stand & course foreground. Queen walks through crowds. In paddock, horses assembled, Monaveen No 6 - SCU. Various shots of the race & several jumps. Cut-ins of people watching race through field glasses. SCU person looking through field glasses, very good. Tony Grantham on stretcher being placed on ambulance.
