- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Coal - Call to Miners. DESCRIPTION: Mr Bevin, Mr Griffiths (Colonial Secretary and ex-miner) and Mr Noel Baker attended No 10 Downing Street to support Mr Attlee’s appeal to miners, who were represented by the executive of the NUM Meanwhile, underlining Britain’s fuel crises, coal has been arriving from America; it has been unloaded at Birkenhead, Cardiff and Dagenham. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Close up lumps of coal. Leaving - Mr Griffiths, Mr Bevin & Noel Baker, together. NUM delegates leave No 10, walk into & past camera. At Birkenhead, various shots of coal being unloaded from ship, passing through grader, & loaded onto trucks. Various angle shots of crane grabs unloading ship’s coal. Finish on line of coal trucks - loaded. Footnote: This coal is to be sold to the public at 104/10 per ton or 5/5d per cwt. it is equivalent to Northumberland Best House Coal.
