MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Engagements. King & Queen at Bif. DESCRIPTION: KING AND QUEEN AT THE BIF - The British Industries Fair (London section) received a visit from Their Majesties, who made an extensive tour of the very fine display. PRINCESSES ATTEND LORD’S TAVERNERS BALL - Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret recently attended the Taverners’ Ball. Stars of screen and stage were among the many distinguished guests at the party, which was held in aid of the National Playing Fields Association. Bill Edrich was one of a number of famous players in the cricket match held there - Lord’s Taverners v the Rest of the World. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Tilt down from roof of Olympia to stalls. Exterior - King & Queen alight from car at Earls Court, greeted by Sir Hartley Shawcross. Interiors of Olympia - several shots of stands including button & ICI stand lighting up. LORD’S TAVERNERS BALL - GROSVENOR HOUSE. Princess Elizabeth & John Mills walk down stairs towards camera followed by Princess Margaret. Juliet Mills presents bouquet to Princess Elizabeth, then Princess Margaret. John Snagge past camera with Princess Elizabeth. Several shots of stars walk down stairs into ballroom. Michael Denison and Dulcie Gray. MS gathering in ballroom, one includes Tyrone Power. Elevated MS guests seated at their respective tables. MS cricket in progress. Edrich hits a ball, nearly falls over. Two bowlers bowl at same time. BBC reporter batting. Roger Livesey hits a six? Robertson Hare walks on to bat. Ditto batting. Cut-ins of the Princess clapping & thoroughly enjoying themselves. (Lord & Lady Mountbatten walk down stairs - following Princess Margaret). Elevated MS of dance floor crowded with couples. Duke of Edinburgh dances with Lady Pamela Mountbatten. Crowds dancing. Princess Elizabeth dancing with John Mills.
