Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Trooping the Colour. (Grenadier Guards). DESCRIPTION: Owing to the illness the King could not take part in the ceremony and his place was taken by Princess Elizabeth. The Colour being trooped this year was that of the Grenadier Guards. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. CU swing of the Colour past camera. Elevated GV Horse Guards Parade, with open landaus arriving. Panning shot - SCU Queen Elizabeth, Princess Margaret & Prince Charles passing in open landau. Elevated GV Buckingham Palace procession just leaving. SCU Princess Elizabeth in uniform, rides Winston past camera (on horseback). Elevated GV procession. CU - Princess Elizabeth & Duke of Gloucester ride in procession - out of camera, after panning. At window, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary & Prince Charles, Princess Astrid & King Haakon in background. Princess Elizabeth - back view salutes. Prince Charles in window salutes. Guards present arms. Royal Salute, SCU Princess Elizabeth saluting. GV Guards. Princess Elizabeth inspects them. Elevated GV inspection. Ground shot - pan Princess Elizabeth inspecting. Elevated GV crowds. GV masses bands marching & counter-marching. Elevated GV massed turning on spot in centre of parade. MS massed bands. Crowds - cut-ins. Elevated GV colour being passed over. SCU officers facing each other, saluting with swords. MS colour presented - ceremony. CU officer shouting order Escort to the Colour present arms. Grenadiers present arms. Guards slow-marching. Ground shot slow marching. Marching between the ranks. SCU into camera-marching between ranks. Elevated GV ditto. MS ditto. CU officers shouting order (Escort to the Colour, Halt - Left Turn. Cut-in Prince Charles leaning out of window, with Queen Elizabeth & Queen Mary watching him. GV marching - marchpast. Pan with Colour as it is marched past. Guards into camera, guards turning heads to right in salute. SV Princess Elizabeth taking salute. Window shot - Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, Princess Margaret & Prince Charles. GV Horse Guards Parade, & guards paraded. Procession headed by massed bands down Mall into camera. SCU Princess Elizabeth saluting - on horseback. Elevated GV guards marching past Buckingham Palace. On balcony at palace, QE., QM., PM., Princess Elizabeth., Prince Charles, King Haakon, & Princess Astrid, also Duchess of Gloucester. Over camera, jets fly out of camera, above skyline of London. Balcony shots, repeat of the above, to finish.
