Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Australian Troops Leave for Korea. DESCRIPTION: Marching through Sydney, en route for Korea, the First Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment passed the saluting base at the Town Hall. One hundred and fifty New Zealanders were with them as they Governor General took the salute. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Elevated GV troops marching. Various shots of 1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment, marching past rostrum outside Town Hall. Cut-in Governor-General, William J McKell taking the salute. Also New Zealanders marchpast. Near quayside, various shots relatives gathered. Troops march aboard, being ‘ticked-off’ as they board. Relatives rush onto quayside, after last soldiers have gone aboard. Various shots of quayside goodbyes, streamers hanging from troopship. Troops wave from ships, cut-ins mothers, wives & babies crying, ship pulls away, crowds waving. Ship with Sydney Bridge in background. Singing Now is the Time for us to say Goodbye.
