Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: South Bank Demolition. DESCRIPTION: Touring the South Bank Site to watch the demolition, the Minister of Works (Mr David Eccles) saw for himself how quickly the Exhibition buildings were coming down. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. MS South Bank looking through entrance archway in foreground. Various shots of buildings being demolished, workmen using burners, pneumatic drills, etc. Girders crash to ground. Several shots of the skeleton of Dome of Discovery. Shot of partially demolished Skylon. Elevated GV of skyline of London looking towards Houses of Parliament; also towards St Paul’s Cathedral - very good shots for stock - please note. First few shots include Mr Eccles, Minister of Works inspecting the demolitions. LS Worker falls from girder. Slightly hurt.
