Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Washington Greets Ike. DESCRIPTION: After a brief holiday, the President-Elect of the United States flew to Washington with his wife. He received a great reception as he drove to the White House for talks with President Truman. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Plane coming into land. Ike and wife alight. Walks up to ‘mike’. Ike makes short speech saying how surprised he is to receive such a welcome. Mrs Eisenhower looking towards cameramen (hundreds of them) recognises one and says Hi-ya Jack. Drive to the White House through cheering crowds and past banner reading ‘Welcome IKE’. Lorry load of pressmen following Ike’s car, which is escorted by usual outriders. Car into grounds of White House. Cut-ins dozens camera & soundmen. Ike poses for men.
