- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Launching of Aircraft Carrier Hermes By Mrs Churchill. DESCRIPTION: Mrs Churchill went to Barrow-in-Furness to launch the Light Fleet Carrier HMS Hermes. Just after her arrival, an accident occurred among spectators. Steel plating, on which people were standing, tilted over, but no-one was seriously injured. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. MS Aircraft Carrier. MS of crowds jumping off steel plating which had collapsed just after Mrs Churchill’s arrival. Mrs Churchill walks up to launching platform. Launches ship (in sound). Hermes down slipway into water.
