MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: British Games. DESCRIPTION: At the White City Stadium Roger Bannister is narrowly beaten in the half-mile event by Jungwirth of Czechoslovakia. Pirie won the three miles and Chataway failed to beat the world record for the Two Miles by only point six of a second. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Half mile event. Roger Bannister took the lead from Czech runner Stanislav Jungwirth, but the Czech passes on to win. Bannister & Stanislav Jungwirth together. Three Miles. Gordon Pirie out in front. Various shots of race. Pirie winning. Shots of man with pistol starting race. Two Mile International. Bannister & Brasher do the pacing. Chataway & Stanislav Jungwirth fight it out. Chataway beating rest of field with great burst of speed. Missed world record by point six of a second. Chataway & Stanislav together.
