- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: British Empire Games. DESCRIPTION: The setting for the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver, was a magnificent new stadium built for the occasion. The opening ceremony was performed by Field Marshal Earl Alexander of Tunis. The climax of the preliminaries was the parade by athletes from twenty four Commonwealth countries.
