Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Storm Havoc. DESCRIPTION: The recent storms over and around Britain caused widespread damage, particularly on the South Coast and in the West Country. Seven members of the crew of the South Goodwin Lightship lost their lives when the vessel broke from her moorings and listed in the heavy seas. SHOTLIST: Rough seas battering South Coast. Various scenes of broken sea walls. Gap of 40’ in the sea wall at Seaford. River Severn overflowing. Under bridge. Swans swim around on race course. Worcester - Cricket ground flooded. Traffic through floods. Signs road closed. Goodwin Sands - Various aerial shots of the South Goodwin lightship almost under water. Ground shots of her high and dry on the Goodwin Sands. Lifeboat standing by. Members of the lifeboat walk out to sunken ship. No survivors.
