- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Up-Helly-AA (Viking Ritual). DESCRIPTION: Lerwick, the only town in the Shetland’s, was the scene of the annual festival. A Viking long-ship is the centre-piece of the procession which threads its way round the harbour. SHOTLIST: GV town and harbour (cut-ins). GV harbour (cut-ins). GV town roofs. GV another part of the harbour with the bow of a fishing vessel shown. GV picturesque street. Also another street - very narrow, with a car driving towards the camera. Another street showing hand rails for pedestrians (steep gradient). Now the Viking type long-boat comes towards the camera (carried by a number of young men). GV daylight shot of Guizers marching and carrying axes in their hands. Night shot of Guizers bearing torches. CU of some of the participants passing the camera wearing grotesque masks. LS of the procession at night all carrying flaming torches. GV these people looking towards the long boat. CU Guizer Jarl (Chief) who is about to give the signal for all torches to be hurled into the long boat. GV of the people throwing their torches into the boat. GV the boat turning (also a mast shot). CU the figure-head collapses in flames.
