MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Fire at Covent Garden. DESCRIPTION: A spark from an oxy-acetylene burner is believed to have started a fire in the Floral Hall at Covent Garden, causing extensive damage. SHOTLIST: A spark from an oxy-acetylene burner is believed to have started a fire in the Floral Hall at Covent Garden. Many panes of glass fell from the domed roof, which was being renovated. Blazing tarpaulins set alight a large number of fruit and flower boxes, causing extensive damage. Firemen spent many hours extinguishing the fire and damping down the smouldering debris. CUs of fire and smoke, refuse etc. SCU boxes etc. LS general scenes of damage. GV various shots.
