- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Algeria - Critical Days. DESCRIPTION: Algeria is one of the worst trouble spots of the moment and recently a number of isolated villages were attacked by rebels. A lot of damage was done, in Algeria itself ex-servicemen went to the war memorial to pay tribute to fallen comrades. The ceremony quickly turned into a riot when students and other members of the crowd clashed with the police. The dilemma in Algeria is that while the rebels demand self government, many French residents take exactly the opposite view, which accounts for demonstrations. SHOTLIST: Various shots of villages which have been destroyed. Troops patrol. Memorial to fallen. Ceremony taking place. Crowds watching. Disturbance starts which turns into a riot.
