Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Flight Across the Border. DESCRIPTION: Across a broken bridge over a frontier canal, was a route that many Hungarians took on their flight to Austria. The refugees had to dodge Russian troops who patrolled the canal. Over 80,000 refugees have already reached Austria. SHOTLIST: Hungarian refugees travelling across wrecked bridge. Shots of them clambering over ruins and forming a human chain to pass a baby along. CU of baby. Shots of Russian troops patrolling the canal. Shots of marshland. Flag flying. Man looking through binoculars for the all clear. Refugees making their way through marshland. Shots of Austrian frontier guards waving to the refugees guiding them to the best crossing route over the marshland. Shots of refugees having finally escaped, some crying, relieved etc.
