- In the Clyde a great concentration of warships for NATO exercises included famous British Aircraft-Carriers. Some eighty British and United States ships assembled in readiness for the biggest manoeuvres of the kind yet held. There was a spot of shore-leave for many members of the ships’ companies both American and British.
