- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Britannia Shield. DESCRIPTION: At Wembley, Southpaw, Dick McTaggart, the RAF’s Olympic Gold Medallist, won his match against Bill Cherry, coloured lightweight in the US Air Force. Welterweight Cornez of Belgium met Prince of the RAF. Cornez clearly won the verdict. The Light-Middleweights: Frankie Davis of the American Air Force and Neil Shaw of the RAF. Victory went to the hard-hitting Davis. Finally, heavyweight Daniels (USAF) and Wilson (RAF). This fight was stopped in the first round and the USAF won the boxing. But the Britannia Shield (handed over by Sir William Dickson) went to the Netherlands, winners of swimming and shooting. SHOTLIST: MS Bill Cherry (USA) right hand corner & dark shorts, V Dick McTaggart, left hand corner, light shorts. McTaggart wins. Welter weight - Cornez (Belgium) v Prince (RAF) with bandaged knee. Cornez winner. Light Middleweight - Davis (USAF) right hand corner v Shaw (RAF), left hand corner. Daniels (USAF) v Wilson (RAF). Wilson knocked out in first round. MS Sir William Dickson presents Britannia Shield to Netherlands team.
