- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Zambesi Floods. DESCRIPTION: Portuguese East Africa suffered severely: the Zambesi river was creating flood-level records. Whole towns and villages were under water. That crisis is over. But the situation at Kariba is still critical. Engineers plan to empty the Coffer dam in order to save it. Steel towers are being put up to carry power 250 miles, from Kariba to Kitwe. (This is the station at present distributing power from the Congo.) It’s a race against time, for when power from the Congo’s cut off, it must be switched on from Kariba. SHOTLIST: Aerial view floods. Same. GV Kariba Dam. Pan same. MS pan dam being built. GV dam.
