Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Pope’s First Blessing. DESCRIPTION: St Peter’s, Rome, and the Cardinals have made their choice. Over three hundred thousand people, waiting in the Square, witnessed the preparations for the new Pope’s appearance on the balcony of the Basilica. Pope John, the twenty-third, wearing his robe of white wool, pronounced his first Pontifical Blessing to the City of Rome and the world: URBI ET ORBI. SHOTLIST: MS crowd (key).
