- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Failure of a Missile. DESCRIPTION: Another blast-off at Cape Canaveral. It’s an Atlas Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, but something’s obviously gone wrong! Slow motion clearly shows the sideways drift of the huge missile. At a safe altitude, the Atlas is destroyed, producing one of the most dramatic pictures of an explosion ever recorded. SHOTLIST: LS rocket (key). MS rocket takes off. Longer shot same - missile drifts sideways. Closer rocket explodes and hurtles downwards. Longer same - missile disappears behind trees. Excellent shot of rocket explosion.
