Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Reverse of the Moon. DESCRIPTION: It was certainly staggering news: a Lunik sent round the Moon to photograph its other side. The Russians have every right to be proud of their achievement. Luniks on display at a Russian Trade Fair underline the triumph. First, a shot past the Moon. Then, a shot into the Moon. And now right round it. After it’s two-day journey, Lunik III went round the Moon, as shown in a diagram. During some forty minutes on the other side, after a radio-signal from Earth, it took photographs, which were automatically processed and transmitted to Russia. The features have been given Russian names: the big crater on the right is called Moscow Sea. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV exhibition interiors. MS people looking at Lunik I. CU Lunik II. Pan items on exhibition. CU diagram of moon. GV diagram showing path of Lunik III. CU pictures of the reverse side of the moon.
