- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Sam the Spaceman. DESCRIPTION: A rocket on a 55-mile trip into space went up from a base in Virginia. And there was a monkey named Sam in the capsule. The capsule fell in the sea, and it was taken aboard a Destroyer. Having recovered it, it only took a few moments to extract Sam the Spaceman. They found him alive all right, apparently none the worse for his far-flung adventure. This was part of the experimental work so necessary to perfect safety measures for future space men.
