Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Algiers - Surrender. DESCRIPTION: Our pictures show what it was like in Algeria, just before the end of the so-called rebellion. That there was no more bloodshed is a great tribute to the cool methods adopted on orders from Paris. Then came President de Gaulle’s speech, which was brilliantly timed and expressed. After a little over a week of chaos and alarm, the rebels began their surrender. SHOTLIST: Paratroopers holding back rebels. Rebels breaking through. Rioters surging through streets.
