Summary
Seen aboard his flagship, the Fast Minelayer HMS Apollo, was Admiral Sir William Davis (C-in-C Eastern Atlantic). The Frigate HMS Llandaff, HMS Daring and a Cruiser of the Royal Netherlands Navy steamed past in salute. As well as the Netherlands and the Royal Navy, ships of the Portuguese and French Navies worked together in this NATO Spring exercise called Dawn Breeze, and some ten thousand sailors took part. When the exercise was over, the matelots relaxed ashore at Gibraltar.
