- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Last of a Line. DESCRIPTION: The day of the battleship is over, and HMS Vanguard, seen here alongside the cruiser Sheffield, is to be broken up. Completed in 1946, the 50,000 ton ship is the last of a long line of Vanguards, and the largest warship ever built in Britain. Her 15-inch guns were never in action. SHOTLIST: GV HMS Vanguard. LS same alongside to HMS Sheffield. MS Royal Navy flag. MS captain and officers. LS bugler pan down to battle honours. LS bridge and main guns. MS same (2). CU Union Flag at masthead.
