Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Venetian Fete - Hythe. DESCRIPTION: Staged for local charities, the Venetian fete at Hythe is probably the only one of its kind in Britain. They put on a very fine show, in which the great variety of floats made a most attractive spectacle. The fete was held on the Royal Military Canal, which was constructed about 150 years ago to help in defence against Napoleon’s expected invasion. Hythe itself is one of the original Cinque Ports. SHOTLIST: Various shots of the carnival floats etc. along the canal. Royal Military Canal with floats on. Shots of sea scouts thoroughly enjoying themselves. Magnificent display of fireworks at night.
