- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Flashpoint Berlin. DESCRIPTION: West Berlin - an outpost of democracy in East Germany. Our status and our rights of access here have been clearly and legally defined. Now, those rights are threatened, and with them, the security of Berlin itself. Mr K’s ambitions have prompted a firm response from President Kennedy, and surely, the President’s warning is clear enough. Not so many years ago, Russian troops helped to bring final retribution to Hitler’s last stronghold. Surely, Mr Khrushchev could not contemplate another battle for Berlin. Now, in 1961, West Berlin stands for Western unity. SHOTLIST: Key scene. LS Brandenburg Gate. GV same. MLS pedestrians. LS vehicles going along road. MLS same. MS Kennedy reading speech. CU same.
