- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Trouble on the Beach. DESCRIPTION: The trouble is oil, and every year thousands of birds are killed by the stuff, which is discharged by ships at sea and washed in-shore. They laid on this demonstration at Brighton. The only way to deal with tarry lumps is to remove them, and a machine has been developed for that purpose by the Warren Spring Laboratory. There can also be trouble from liquid oil, and in this case, they treated a trial area by spraying. SHOTLIST: Ship at sea. Sunbathers on beach getting covered in tar. New machine demonstrated for clearing tar from beaches. Men hose down beaches with detergent. Interior shots of laboratory experimenting with tar.
