Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Visiting Scotland. DESCRIPTION: The Guard of Honour of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders awaited the arrival of the royal train at Princes Street Station, Edinburgh, where the Queen was welcomed by the Lord Provost, Sir John Greig Dunbar, who, by tradition, surrendered the keys of the city to Her Majesty. At the Palace of Holyrood House, the Queen’s residence when she visits Scotland’s capital, a garden party was given by the Queen and Prince Philip for young people of Scotland. In all, there were more than 600 representatives of Youth Clubs and similar organisations from all parts of the country. The Royal visit to Scotland coincided with the visit of the US sailing ship Eagle. The Duke travelled to Leith and went aboard for a tour of inspection. Now, back to Holyrood for the pipes of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, and Scottish dancing, a delightful tradition of Royal Visits to Scotland. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV Edinburgh. MS guards.
