- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Headlines From Scotland. DESCRIPTION: Mr Eisenhower and his wife (seen arriving with their grandson and daughter) were given an apartment in Culzean Castle, Ayrshire, as a token of appreciation for his great services during the war. They don’t often get the opportunity to visit Culzean, but now they were all set for a 5 day holiday in this nice place. And, of-course, the ex-President had the time to play a few rounds of golf!. The 16th Edinburgh International Festival was another topic to hit the headlines. One new event this year the Writers Conference at the McEwan Hall. The Festival’s Artistic Director, the Earl of Harewood spoke at the opening session. So did the Conference Producer, Malcolm Muggeridge and Angus Wilson, one of many writers from more than a dozen countries. Theatre-going, of-course, is a vital part of the festival, and there are no empty seats, particularly with attractions like the Royal Shakespeare Company and stars like Dorothy Tutin and Maxine Audley.
