Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rugby League Cup - Wakefield Triumph. DESCRIPTION: Rugby League’s star match of the year: Wakefield Trinity versus Wigan. Wigan kick off and they soon set about justifying those pre-match expectations. But Wakefield opened the scoring in the 38th minute with a try by Sampson, and Neil Fox converted to give them a 5 point lead at half time. Both sides went on to score penalty goals and with the score 12 - 7 in Wakefield’s favour, ‘man-of-the-match’ Poynton intercepted a Wigan pass to cut through for an absolutely gift try. Fox made it 17 - 7. Wakefield’s final try came from Brooke. Neil Fox made the final score 25 - 10! A clear cut victory and another triumphant day for Trinity. SHOTLIST: Key scene.
