Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Wrestling - Olympic Preview. DESCRIPTION: Britain’s first International Tournament between amateur wrestlers from 3 countries took place at Manchester’s Belle Vue. It was between Japan, the United States and England. Pictures show the Heavyweight bout between Merrill Solowin of Toledo University and Dennis McNamara, British Heavyweight Champion. The American won. British Featherweight Champion, Albert Aspen, was matched against Osamu Watanabe. Aspen was well and truly over-powered by the Japanese. The Middleweight bout saw reigning British champion, Hill trying to get the better of Camilleri of the US Air Force. But Camilleri had the upper hand. Convincing winners were the Japanese, America took second place. SHOTLIST: Key scene. MS start of Heavyweight bout Solowin V McNamara. CU spectator.
