Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Snow Makers. DESCRIPTION: It’s like inviting someone to dinner - and then discovering there’s nothing in the larder. Embarrassment is an under statement when you invite over thirty countries to compete in the Winter Olympics - then find there’s not enough snow. On a smaller scale - but no less embarrassing - the absence of deep snow on the ski slopes in Scotland. But a ski hotel, within a stones’ throw of Balmoral Castle, is one of the first to try a new technique to make snow. They use water from the River Dee, and spray it under high pressure over the ski runs, but the temperature has to be below freezing, before it falls as snow. SHOTLIST: Key scene.
