MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Quicker - Cheaper - By Hydrofoil. DESCRIPTION: Cross channel trips costing about 12 shillings each way became a possibility with the maiden voyage of the hydrofoil Shadowfax (a mythical flying horse) from Calais to Dover. She can carry up to 50 travellers and a crew of 3. The big advantage of the hydrofoil over hovercraft is that they can go to sea in almost any condition.
