Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Showroom to Scrap. DESCRIPTION: Anticipating the Earls Court Motor Show, Movietone considers how the car begins and how it invariably ends up. Ford’s new Research Centre near Basildon has just been opened. Here a whole vehicle is conceived and tested years before production. But after a useful life - possibly ending up as a stock-car racer - the car is just a lump of metal after all. Hecket-Birds have just opened Britain’s first Fragmentation Plant at St Helen’s in Lancashire. It chews a car into little pieces in fifteen seconds!
