Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Czech Grand National. DESCRIPTION: Europe’s equivalent to the Grand National - The Spectacular Pardubice Steeplechase. Only thirteen of the 23 starts complete the gruelling course over marshlands and ploughed fields. The formidable water jump claims many victims. SHOTLIST: GV start of race - pan with horse over first jump. GV pan horses round bend and over ditch. LV pan leader. GV horses over jump - pan as many fall. SV another horse over same jump - pan as stumbles but carries on past fallers. SCU men help horse to it’s feet - pan to CU horse’s head. LV pan horse attempts water jump just gets over - pan back horse falls in attempt, pan back next horse through pan as rides off. SV horse towards water jump - CU as falls. SV jockey remounts, 2 others pass him & one falls into water - pan back 2 others fall into water. SV pan horse jumps water. LV pan Bulgarian horse Veszn comes in to win. SV winner after race.
