MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Highland Games - in Colour. DESCRIPTION: The Games opened by Edinburgh’s Lord Provost is the setting for traditional highland sports. From the genteel art of sword dancing to the brawny past-time of weight throwing and tossing the caber. SHOTLIST: GV massed pipers walking across arena. SV Alberta all girls marching round arena. CU girls march past camera. SV ditto, pan up to flags pan down to banner The City of Edmonton. GV girls & banners lined up. GV crowds & VIPs in stands. SV girl presents flowers to wife of Lord Provost (Jack Kane). SV single piper playing. SV group highland dancing pan down to feet dancing across swords. GV pan sports in progress in stadium. CU hammer pan up to No 3 L Bryce throwing hammer, pan to hammer in air & drops. SV No 1 Howard Payne throws hammer, pan with hammer. SV No 10 John Watts (winner) throws hammer. CU pan hammer in air & drops. GV competitor throws weight over bar - he hits bar and bar falls. SV another competitor throws weight over bar. SV crowd applaud. GV another competitor throws weight over bar. SV No 11 Geoff Capes (winner) clears bar. GV competitor tossing caber (right over). GV pan another competitor tossing caber (right over). GV No 3 Laurie Bryce (winner) tossing the caber, pan to caber on ground pan back to Bryce.
