- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Burghley Horse Trials - in Colour. DESCRIPTION: Strong competition from overseas in this most arduous of cross country races. British riders and horses came to the fore and Janet Hodgson on Larkspur took the overall trophy. SHOTLIST: GV pan No 82 Sioux (Germany) racing round course. SV pan as No 27 Oase (Holland) starts away. LV towards, pan No 17 Victor (Italy) ditto. SLV Ambassador (Holland). LV No 77 Wayfarer II ridden by Richard Meade crosses water jump. SV No 59 Harley (Australia) across water. LV No 45 Alpaca (Germany) across water. He stumbles at 64’ as he climbs out of water, turns back, tries again & succeeds. SV pan to BV as No 66 Larkspur (winner) starts away. SV scoreboard showing Princess Anne on Columbus No 61 retired. SV pan Range Rover (with Princess Anne?) drives away. LV pan No 77 Wayfarer II rides down slope. LV pan No 19 rides up to fence but refuses (Ferrybridge). LV pan No 71 Little Extra crosses water but stumbles at 126’, he tries to climb out & rider falls off. SV crowds watching. SV pan as No 71 tries water jump again & falls off again at 139’.
