- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Oyster Smacks Race Colour. DESCRIPTION: The annual Thames Oyster Smack Race from Gravesend to Billingsgate was won by the smack ‘Shamrock’ skippered by architect Brian Thomas. This race re-enacts the upstream dash that used to take place in bygone days to get the oysters to market. SHOTLIST: GV boats at sea. SV CK 174, SV CK 178, MS CK 256 ‘Hyacinth’ BD Newell. LV CK 171.
