- COI synopsis: This edition traces the history of the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy from its beginnings fifty years ago. It shows: the airships and seaplanes of the Royal Navy Air Service in 1915; the catapult landings and first deck landings of the first World War, the development of aircraft carriers and take-off and landing techniques; the "Ark Royal", a famous carrier of World War II; the problems of flying jet aircraft from carriers; the use of angled decks and the mirror-landing sight; the work of naval helicopters and the testing of the vertical take-off aircraft, the Hawker PII27
