- COI synopsis: Shows a stage in the development of supersonic aircraft and experiments carried out on air frames and engines for higher speeds in the future. Dr Seddon of the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Bedford explains how wave rider wing shapes contain and use the shock wanes of supersonic flight. Dr Jamieson of the Advanced Propulsion Unit of Bristol Siddeley Engines describes the engines that may power them and Dr Gordon of the Explosives Experimental Establishment of the Ministry of Aviation talks of experiments to promote new heat resistant materials which hypersonic planes will require.
