Summary
COI synopsis: Midge larvae thrive in fresh water all over the world. Some like it really fresh, other species like their own particular brand of muck. By observing which species inhabit any stretch of a river, it’s possible to tell whether there’s any pollution, and even what type of pollution it might be.
