- COI synopsis: Half the world’s population are women, yet they make up only five percent of its scientists. Living Tomorrow looks at the work of four women who, despite the difficulties, have succeeded in the world of science whilst maintaining a normal family life. Dr Jocelyn Bell Burnell - the astronomer who spotted the first pulsating star, or pulsar. Now she’s working on the newest frontier of astronomy, studying the mysterious behaviour of stars which emit very little light but are powerful sources of X-rays.
