- Summary
- COI synopsis: Inflatable tents, miniaturised microwave ovens, tiny television sets: it’s possible to pack into a car everything the bon viveur could possibly need for a weekend. But portability not only has far reaching effects on our everyday lives - it’s also bringing about major changes in commerce, industry and medicine... Sue Saunders is a diabetic. And she’s pregnant. So her blood, with its variable sugar content, is the food supply for her unborn baby. Should the sugar content vary a lot, the baby will be at risk. But Sue is one of the first to have the peace of mind afforded by a portable blood monitor. With it, throughout her pregnancy, she’s monitored the exact sugar level in her blood. By keeping the level constant she knows that her baby will be developing normally - right up to the 39th week and the moment of birth.
