Summary
COI synopsis: The Open University provides a chance for anyone in Britain to obtain a university degree, regardless of age or previous qualifications. It also provides expertise for countries elsewhere in the world who feel that the system could well be adapted to local traditions. Diana MacLean visits a very busy student indeed: a hovercraft pilot who began without academic qualifications, had to fit in intensive part-time study between trips from Britain to France and back - and graduated.
