Summary
BFI synopsis: Christoper Chataway interviews Peter Twiss and Donald Campbell. Campbell talks about his water speed records and why he undertakes such attempts. They discuss the application of the information gathered during his high speed runs to the marine craft industry. Also shows a view from the cockpit of Campbell’s boat, the Bluebird, as he accelerates the craft to 130mph. Twiss, a test pilot and holder of the air speed record, talks about how his record breaking attempt was officially monitored. They discuss the problems incurred by the ‘heat barrier’ during the high speed flight and the application of the information gathered during his test flights to the civil aviation industry.
