Summary
NoS Summary - Actresses taught baseball by Elvin Hedges at Stamford Bridge.
British Pathe synopsis: "Filmed at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea, London". Actresses from "Yellow Mask" and "So this is Love" try their hand at baseball. 6 women with arms round each other bow to the camera. By a camera trick their ordinary clothes are magically transformed into baseball uniforms. The instructor tells the players that the first step for successful baseball is to chew gum. C/U of coach putting gum into a player’s mouth. Game begins with a bit of rough play. C/U of group of girls chewing gum.
Elvin Hedges demonstrates technique to the actresses from the Winter Gardens and His Majesty’s Theatre. The group of girls fall over as he takes a swipe at the ball. One of the girls takes a swing. Bernard Nedell steps up to give some tips on pitching technique. The girls practice their "sliding technique".
Intertitle reads: "A run on the field is worth two in the stocking". A game is played with girls looking on and cheering. The game is stopped while a player attends to her make-up. Laddie Cliff offers a cigarette to a player who attempts to take it out of the cigarette case whilst wearing a baseball glove. He puts it in her mouth and lights it for her. The game continues. One of the players does a somersault in slow motion to reach a base but is touched with the ball by an opposing player.
